Thoughts That Restore the Soul
“When you feel alone in your struggle, you might ask, ‘Is God listening to your prayers?’ Psalm 34:17 gives us a definitive answer.”
Today’s Word from God (Psalm 34:17)
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.”
(Psalm 34:17, NIV)
There are days when you pray,
but nothing seems to happen.
You speak your prayers,
but the situation remains the same,
and your heart still feels heavy.
Slowly, silence begins to creep in.
You stop speaking.
You want to stop calling out altogether.
Faith doesn’t necessarily feel weaker—
but in the quiet, you grow weary.
Hope feels distant,
fading as waiting continues.
And deep inside, you ask:
Is God really listening?
Psalm 34:17 answers clearly:
He hears.
Without explanation.
Without condition.
Simply and unmistakably, He hears.
God does not focus on how loud your voice is.
He does not count how long you pray.
His attention rests on the fact that you are calling out.
Even whispered prayers,
or the ones only felt in your heart,
all reach Him.
Grace is not measured by the speed of answers.
The act of being heard
is already the beginning.
Even when you don’t feel it,
your prayer is not lost.
It reaches God.
“When you feel alone in your struggle, you might ask, ‘Is God listening to your prayers?’ Psalm 34:17 gives us a definitive answer.”
So the silence you perceive
is not emptiness.
It is the unseen work of God listening.
Peace does not wait
for circumstances to change—
it begins with knowing
someone is fully attentive to your story.
Even when you want to stop praying,
God is already listening.
Prayer is not about perfection.
It is about connection that continues,
even in small, quiet ways.
Hope is not an instant solution.
It begins with knowing
that your voice has not disappeared.
Your cry is not lost in the air;
it reaches God.
It is never ignored.
Even when you are too weary to pray long,
a single word is enough.
Or simply staying in God’s presence
counts as calling out.
Today, you don’t need to check for answers.
You don’t need to see change immediately.
Even calling out once more
is enough.
At that moment,
your prayer is already being heard.
And in ways you cannot see,
God holds it safely.

Prayer
Lord, I believe that You hear my prayers,
even when it feels like no one else does.
Thank You for not turning away in times of silence,
and for staying close to me.
Give me a small faith to call out again today,
and let me experience peace in that moment.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
